Civil War Soldier Quilt
Click to enlarge During the Civil War the women made quilts for their men who were going off to war. Some were sent to the American Sanitary Commission to be stamped before they were issued to the soldiers. They were long and narrow to fit the army cots. These quilts were made from scraps and old clothes. Today we have 1800’s reproduction materials available to reproduce quilts of that era like this nine-patch signature quilt. Pattern also includes a four-patch, 34”x 38” wall hanging.

Julie's Flower Garden

Surrounded by a white picket fence, this floral quilt is machined pieced in no time at all when using 6" blocks. For an autumn look you could use beautiful leaf materials. This quilt can be easily made smaller for a crib size or as large as you like for a bed quilt.

During WWI and WWII, Service Flags hung in the windows of the parents of Service men and women. The tradition originated with WWI. In 1917, the Congressional Record stated:
"The world should know of those who give so much for liberty. The dearest thing in all the world to a father and mother is their children. "One star for each service family member, the blue stands for hope and pride.

Gingersnap Star

Click to enlarge 40” x 40” This quilt was made in celebration of the bicentennial of the state of Ohio, 1803-2003. The traditional Ohio Rose quilt pattern is incorporated in the Ohio Star background. Framing it with an easy but elegant border made from a floral stripe surrounded by a dog’s tooth edge.
